The Loligo genus of squid is among the most prevalent and widely distributed of myopsid squid. After capture, these Loligo squids are immediately frozen to guarantee optimal freshness and texture. Loligo features a mild flavor, low-medium oiliness and a dry, firm texture; its flesh is translucent when raw and white when cooked. Furthermore, Loligo squid provides a considerable source of protein, iron, vitamin B-12, and selenium, but is low in calories and fat, making it a beneficial addition to any diet.
